Jack Winder's mentor has come down with a magical sickness when on his honeymoon. The illness requires an object of power used as a cure. Jack is tasked to find Grishel's Feather and take it to the seaside village where his mentor and his new wife suffer from the debilitating effects of the malady. Jack has no idea where the feather is other than in the adjacent foreign country. He must retrieve the feather even though he is now saddled with his chief rival, the obnoxious Penny Ephram, and get the object to his mentor in time to save him.
