A Few Words from the Author With the state of vampire fiction, I'm almost embarrassed to admit to loving vampires, but I do. As a child, vampire thrillers like Near Dark, The Lost Boys, and Fright Night were my bedtime stories. I didn't want to be an astronaut when I grew up, I wanted to be a vampire. They were sexy, cool, and they were always out for a good time.They used to be confident, often to a fault. Today they're afraid to talk to girls.They used to be gluttons. Today they're vegetarians.They used to drink the blood of virgins. Today they are virgins.I don't envy them like I used to. I just miss them.What I'm getting at is this: If you're looking for a vampire to swoon over, to fall in love with, to think about in the tub with scented candles and wine while some soft music plays in the background, you'd probably do well to look elsewhere for a vampire series.
