So Jack’s gone and got himself kidnapped, bloodied, broken, and spirited away to a mysterious prison camp called the Golden Boughs Retirement Village. For any other Fable this would spell a mess of trouble, but for Jack it’s no more than…okay, it’s also a mess of trouble for him, but he’ll stay undaunted when he meets the enigmatic author of his current dilemma: the mysterious Mr. Revise!

Jack is determined not to remain a prisoner in the Golden Boughs Retirement Village, run by the mysterious Mr. Revise and his army of evil librarians. He’s planning the great escape of all captive Fables, but we’ve seen what happens to most of Jack’s schemes before. Does this one have a chance of working…or is he doomed to remain a prisoner for centuries to come?

The great escape is on! Jack’s ingenious plan has reached fruition. The captive Fables are on their way, breaking out of the Golden Boughs Retirement Village. But wait a minute—this is one of Jack’s schemes, so how can it possibly go well? Will our heroes win their freedom or will the insidious Mr. Revise and his army of evil librarians keep the Fables locked away forever?

Captive Fables, divided into dozens of four-man escape teams, have scattered to the four winds, throwing the evil librarians of the Golden Boughs Retirement Village into chaos. But before Jack can lead his escape team to safety he first has to defeat the perusing Bagmen in single, unarmed combat. Here’s the problem though: no one has ever defeated a Bagman in single unarmed combat!

Jack has so far eluded the retrieval vans seeking and capturing escaped Fables, but how much longer can the trickster hold out…and how has he kept so hidden thus far? The answer lies in a past tale, back when he went by the name of Jack Frost!

Jack has landed in Las Vegas and even Sin City isn’t prepared for him—especially not when the Pathetic Fallacy is his new sidekick. Then again, Jack has a lovely—and filthy rich—new bride who seems determined to see him settle down. And Jack seems content to let her try. “Jack of Hearts” Part 2.

Jack’s lost his wife, he’s the target of a very lucky lady, and his profits are headed down the toilet. What could possibly make it worse? Mister Revise and his legion of sinister librarians, that’s what! The Las Vegas adventure continues in “Jack of Hearts” part 3.

The conclusion to the four-part “Jack of Hearts!” Jack makes a gamble against Lady Luck. Does it work out or does he need to cash in his chips? Writer Bill Willingham concludes Jack’s Las Vegas adventure!

Before we got sidetracked in Vegas, Jack was reminiscing about “Jack Frost” (remember issue 6?). Jack had the powers of the Snow Queen to do with as he would. His only job now is to deliver winter to the next kingdom over in a timely manner, while the Snow Queen continues to suffer from her mysterious illness. Can anything possibly go right?

“The Bad Prince” Part 1! What happens when you become the most well-known Fable in America? Jack starts to find out in a truly bizarre way. Also, in the Golden Boughs retirement village, Mr. Revise takes drastic steps to keep the escaped Fables from spilling the beans on him and his facility.

Jack’s been impaled by the sword Excalibur, and only the One True King can remove it from him. But where is he, and how long can Jack last with a sword sticking out of his chest? “The Bad Prince” Part 2.

Still stuck in the Grand Canyon, Jack learns something interesting information about his past and present—and his true place in the Fable community! “The Bad Prince” Part 3.

The conclusion to “The Bad Prince!” Our hard-luck group of crash survivors tries to find a way out of the wilderness. And along the way we learn more about Wicked John, and our boy Jack doesn’t like a bit of it!

Jack gives rise to the haunted spirit of Halloween in this issue featuring guest art by Andrew Robinson! Go back in time to one of Jack’s many misadventures—back when he was none other than the legendary Jack O’ Lantern!

As Jack scours the Homelands for gold, he runs across multiple myths of American folklore—from Tom Sawyer and Jim to Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. But what exactly is Jack’s former captor Hilary Page’s part in all this? “Americana” Part 2.

From an all-singing analogue of New York to bootlegging on Lake Michigan all the way to even the myth(s) of Canada, Jack’s trek across the fabled lands of Americana with Humpty Dumpty, Paul Bunyan and more continues with “Americana” Part 3!

The finale to “Americana” has it all! Jack reminisces about sexual encounters past while engaging some in the present, the long-sought-after treasure finally appears and a character heads to the big final Fable in the sky!

Jack’s sidekick Gary—the Pathetic Fallacy—takes center stage in the Golden Boughs Theatrical Society’s production of Hamlet! With: Alice as Ophelia, a pair of squash rackets as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, and Wicked John as Laertes! But who’s using the play as cover for an escape attempt?

“Turning Pages” part 1! An egg will explode and a little blue pig will pontificate on weighty matters while wearing a brassiere on his head! Just another typical chapter in the life of Jack of The Tales. In this issue, however, we learn a bit more about the lovely young librarian Robin Page.

Starring former wallflower Priscilla Page! The second part in Jack’s latest tale is chock-full of car crashes, brutal violence, shoplifting and the horrors of mime—not to mention our fearless protagonist facing off against a horrific monster. “Turning Pages” part 2.

“Turning Pages” part 3! Hillary Page is the gal who stole away to Americana to find her father and ended up kicking Jack Horner square in the tacklebox. Now she’s held captive by the vicious Bookburner with no hope of escape, and it looks like all of the good guys are about to be murdered!

In “The Books of War” part 1, Jack has returned to the Golden Boughs not as a prisoner, but as its Commander in Chief! It’s the beginning of an all-new storyline in which lives will be lost and pigs will appear magically!

The latest Jack epic continues with the Siege of the Golden Boughs—Bookburner’s army storms the gates and the fight begins in earnest! “The Books of War” part 2.

“Great Fables Crossover” part 5, continued from FABLES #84. Bigby Wolf, Snow White, Gary and Mr. Revise are hot on the trail of Kevin Thorn and determined to stop him before he can write the universe out of existence. But Bigby has problems—namely the Big Bad Wolf has been transformed into an ape! Continued in LITERALS #2.

“The New Adventures of Jack and Jack” part 1! Jack’s back out on his own, but after his grave insult to the artist who’s drawing this story, what will become of Jack? Will the artist seek vengeance and have Jack go bald? Or will the artist simply ignore the script and have Jack brutally murdered on the first page?

It was obvious that Jack didn’t really care if his second favorite artist, Russ Braun, was horribly insulted at the thought of being second best. But in this issue, penciller Russ Braun will enact a revenge so hideous on Jack that one of them may not make it to next issue! “The New Adventures of Jack and Jack” part 2.

Jack Horner keeps getting fatter, bigger and uglier. It’s pretty clear some sort of strong magic is at work, but is it a diabolical attack—or a final comeuppance at long last for Jack’s many sins? “The New Adventures of Jack and Jack” finishes as Jack Frost continues to learn the hero trade while Jack Horner finally learns why he’s been getting so fat and ugly. Weirdly enough, that’s all we can possibly tell you about this issue and still retain some bit of surprise.

“Kings of Earth and Sky” part 1! Jack Frost and his wooden owl MacDuff find themselves in a strange new world—a world with giant millipede mounts, ancient space elevators and ray guns that go zish! But things really get interesting when a scantily clad witch leads Jack to an ancient temple containing one of the most powerful weapons ever crafted!

Jack Frost has fought the Keepers of the Fulminate Blade. He’s being lauded as a hero in the ancient city of Landfall, but being a hero isn’t maybe so great as Jack thought it might be. A promiscuous princess isn’t the only danger awaiting Jack at Landfall castle. “Kings of Earth and Sky” part 2.
