The Rush Cutter’s Legacy is a tale set in the hot and sunny climes of rural Greece where, during one fateful summer, a young girl’s eyes are opened as she experiences a whirlwind of love, heartache and the effect of manipulative relatives.
Greek Villager Vasso owns the local kiosk. A permanent fixture in the village, the tiny wooden hut is crammed to the rafters with the day to day necessities of the locals who shop there. Over the years, as she sells her goods, she learns the stories of her fellow villagers; stories she loves to share with her good friend over a frappe.
But one thing that hasn’t gone amiss amongst the gossip is the absence of Vasso’s own story. Always keen to talk about the lives of others, Vasso has rarely allowed a glimpse into her own past, until now - and as we travel back through her life, we come to understand the events that made her who she is today.
At a young age Vasso was sent to a nearby island to work in a tavern. A summer of love beset with challenges ensued as she comes to know the family of her new lover and finds herself faced with a father’s broken heart and a step mother’s jealous and controlling ways, both of which lead to consequences beyond her control.
Events on the island alter the course of Vasso’s life permanently - and it isn’t long before she decides she must return to the village, alone. But what was it that drove her back? And why has she been so reluctant to share her own story?
