Episode 5 of This Plague of Days closes with desperate fights and fireworks. This is the last episode of Season One and we go out with a bang. The infected are unleashed and hunting Dr. Sinjin-Smythe on the streets of London. He must make quick allies if he's going to avoid getting eaten. The situation is just as dangerous in America's heartland as the survivors of the plague's first wave become as wretched and soulless as zombies. The Spencer family is in a battle for their lives, but they don't understand yet how vast the larger war will be.

Zombies, murderers, looters, false friends and friends with good intentions all compete for food. To the infected, you're food. To the survivors, you're in the way. Episode 5 drives the tension and the stakes higher as we race to the end of the siege.

This Plague of Days is like two books in one: The first is an international thriller with terrorists and zombies. The second is a clever, contemplative novel on a collision course with rabid cannibals.
