Evan has returned. After fighting his way back, he discovers that his former encampment has been overrun in a brutal attack. Unsure of what to do, he is eventually forced into action by an approaching herd of the undead numbering in the thousands. It is then that he suffers more stings of betrayal and once again encounters Don Evans.

Running for his life again, Evan decides to make a run for a place he feels is suitable and safe. Along the way, he encounters more of the dregs of humanity, a woman who seems like she was pulled from an action-hero adventure, as well as survivors just looking for hope.

Through it all, he continues to encounter the "zombie children" that act very different from the adult variety. Do they still possess some sense of their humanity? Or are they simply just more dangerous?
