The Wrong Way Down by Jake Elliot
Katia is an accomplished thief. She accepted a job with a heavy price for failure; her life.
Popalia, an acolyte priestess, has vowed to return her church's stolen treasure. Ambitious and impetuous, she'll go to any means and pay whatever cost.
Wynkkur is a self taught sorcerer who miscasts as much as he evokes. He's been conscripted as a bodyguard and sent on a hopeless mission.
This is not the path to their victories, but the story of their fall.
This is the wrong way down.

'The Wrong Way Down' is a character driven fantasy story that builds momentum as the situation continuously looses control for the two central protagonists, Popalia and Wynkkur. After stealing a holy relic, Katia is captured while her partner flees with the treasure. Popalia intends to come home a hero of her church, Katia's employers have vastly different intentions for Popalia.

This first book is the catalyst for disaster. Book two is already published, book three will be out by early summer 2015, and the conclusion is written, but not ready yet. (I expect it ready by spring 2016.)
