High school 2nd year, Amano Yukiteru, is a boy who has problem making friends. He thinks of himself as a bystander and will always write down everything he sees in a cell phone diary. Yukiteru, Yuno, and Kurusu have joined in an ongoing alliance. Their goal is to discover other diary holders - and prevent the murder game from getting out of hand.

In the next volume of diary holders and deceit, even the most seemingly innocent can't be trusted.  Yukiteru, Yuno, and Kurusu have been attacked by Tsubaki, another diary holder and Priestess, at her temple.  Yuno manages to open up an escape route, but they run out of energy and are captured.  As Tsubaki orders Yuno to be killed, nothing is less certain for our trio than the one thing they had learned to trust - the future.

Yukiteru is starting out fresh at a new school, or so he thought. He starts out on the wrong foot when he bumps into Hayasaka, a bully from his previous school. Just when he's convinced that his school year is doomed, he meets new classmates who stand up for him. Yukiteru avoids thinking about the Diary Games and tries to enjoy normal school life.

Via the scheming of his new friend Aru, Yukiteru and Yuno share an unexpected date at a free 'wedding trial'. When they get back to Yuno's house, the room in which Aru expected to find dead bodies has been replaced by a giant hole in the ground. Not only that, but Yuno seems to have forgotten that Yukiteru ever even visited her!

Yuno and Yukiteru have disappeared, much to the consternation of Yukiteru's friends. With the help of the police, Aru and the others find him in an old abandoned hotel, where he's being held prisoner by a most unlikely captor!

It's a battle of love between two couples: the madly-smitten Marco and Ai, and dysfunctional Yukiteru and Yuno. The power of true love seems to overpower all as Marco and Ai continually foil Yukiteru and Yuno's best plans, but in the end, a plot involving a fake diary backfires on Marco, with disastrous consequences!

Yukiteru discovers the truth about the cause of his mother's death. Determined to bring justice, Yukiteru tracks down the one person responsible for his loss. And, while Yuki and Yuno hide and recuperate from these shocking losses, the Eleventh diary owner makes his move to seize Eighth's special server diary for his own purposes.

Cellphone diaries predict the future, and their users battle to see who will be the god of a new world. Mayor John Bacchus' plan to arm the entire city of Sakurami with their own Future Diaries grows closer to fruition as the remaining players seek to stop him!

A dramatic standoff between mayor John Bacchus and Team Yuki results in Ninth making the ultimate sacrifice, leaving Yuki with the two diary holders he wants least to kill--his girlfriend Yuno and the benevolent caretaker Eighth. Suddenly, the game gets turned on its head when Yuki's ally Aru Akise learns that he was nothing more than a pawn created by Deus to observe the game... until he is granted a greater power than any remaining player possesses!
