Until a scared cat, a campground in need, and a sexy, broody bookseller capture her attention in ways she wasn't prepared for.
Thayer Longspur, former Architect Under 30 to watch, has given up his blueprints to run The Plot Chickens, his grandparents' used book in tiny Tuft Swallow. Voted Most Likely to Succeed in his high school yearbook, Thayer is stuck between the expectations of the architectural world and his family. Thayer is trying to decide if a bird in hand (the bookstore) is better than two in the bush (finishing his Masters Degree) when an impish dervish whirls into his store and life. Every time he turns around, Nix is there pecking at his grumpiness and resolve to leave.
While these two are deciding whether to nest for good or fly the coop, they can't help but get caught up in town politics, cornhole, an out of control campfire, and each other. Nothing wrong with two consenting adults enjoying each other, right? As long as expectations are set at the beginning.
One of them stays but wants to go; the other wants to stay but has a wandering soul. Can these two work around their wanderlust to find common ground? If any place can entice them to do so, charming, bird-obsessed Tuft Swallow is it.
This is a steamy romantic comedy full of bird puns, familiar characters from the Tuft Swallow series, and witty banter.
