Je suis fou de Vava by Dany Laferrière
A wonderful story of a young boy (Vyezo) in Petit-Goave, Haiti. He plays with all the neighbors but have special attention for VAVA. He hopes one day to give Vava a ride on his bicycle. Vava is oblivious to the attention, plays, dances with all the friends which makes Vyezo tense and get a fever. His grandmother took care of the sickness but do not cure the heart. The illustrations are beautiful, colorful, connected to the landscape and architecture of Haiti.

The French version of the book (Je suis fou de Vava) won the 2007 Governor General of Canada Award.
