When Brian Hardy is a toddler, his father, Charles “Chuck” Hardy isn’t sure of him. Something seems off in the boy. Samantha, his wife, plays her part but could not care less, busy pursuing petty indulgences and other men.

By his early teens, Brian shows signs of estrangement: from Chuck. His peers. Himself. Chuck thinks he has done all he can to set the boy on the right path, but Brian’s character seems to darken as the years pass.

But a haunting from the past begins to rise within Chuck, within Brian. A woman, Carly Hart, reenters their lives in dramatic and frightening style, leaving both men torn, confused, and vulnerable to the most tragic impulses that lie dormant in all other men.
