Society in general, even his own mother, would not easily forget or forgive him for the damage he had done to the family reputation. However, it did not bother him one bit!
Then, within hours of his landing, and after robbing old Silas, he had a fateful encounter with four of the most remarkable young women he had ever met. They kidnapped him at gunpoint, mistaking him for his nephew. He was intrigued, but was then caught up in making them a promise that he had no intention of breaking, that he would help them as they needed.
However, all was not well. Silas's impetuous sons had shot him as he left the old money-lender's house, and he was losing blood.
After the carriage had succumbed to the wear and tear of ages, breaking down, they got him home, where even more surprises awaited him. He might not survive.
