Lake I've worked my entire life to succeed in a sport I don't particularly enjoy. I've faced homophobic teammates, hostile locker rooms, and coaches who couldn't care less about me as a person, but nothing could have prepared me for this. It's my first year - my fresh start - with a Professional League football team and teammates who are blissfully unaware of my sexuality. I have a contract, money to keep my family afloat, and I'm only the backup kicker this season. Perfect, right? Wrong. He's strong, independent, and wants nothing to do with me - which is crazy because I'm such a cool guy! Trying to befriend him leads to a misunderstanding of intimate proportions, and suddenly, I'm not so sure my life is all that perfect the way it is. He needs help getting his feet under him within the league, and I need help navigating these new feelings I have after our confusing encounter. Maybe we can help each other . . . After all, a deal is a deal.
