When I head to Alaska to write a cover story about his lodge's new "Camp Mountain Man" promotion, I expect to hike the wilderness, see some animals, and maybe learn how to throw an ax. When I find out they offer whale watching excursions, I have to try one out for myself.
Little do I know, the man running the tours may be infinitely more exciting, and appealing, than anything else I experience in Alaska.

I agree to take my buddy's cousin out for a few days on my whale-watching tour because I figure it'll be good for business. But when I meet the reporter herself, I find I have a whole new interest in her.
As she takes a hands-on approach to write her article, I'm more than willing to help. I'm just not sure I want her to leave when it's all over.
