Discovering that the rural retreat of her childhood is now a crazy town full of Doomsday Preppers is a surprise, but whatever. It's as good a place as any to wait for the end of her world. If the universe would be so kind as to send a hunk to make the transition bearable, she'd be good to go.
Alec can't believe the woman he just rescued is the same girl who saved him all those years ago, when he was nothing but an angry street thug.
