Clementine Pope is what her friends would call a goody-goody. She doesn't curse or drink or talk about anything untoward. She teaches first grade and loves everything about it. In fact, everything about Clementine's life is idyllic, except for her stepbrother Mason. When their parents died, Mason took care of her until she was old enough to take care of herself. She tries keeping her distance, but lately, he's getting weirder than usual. Intent on putting her foot down, she meets with him and everything goes horribly wrong.
