Then it happened.
Jackson was the one that snapped. I was surprised.
It all happened so fast. When my mouth opened, I couldn't stop it.
I made myself look pathetic and took Jackson down with me.
I'd confessed to having a fake boyfriend as well as sleeping with my brother's best friend.
It was wrong. I knew it was. I felt horrible as soon as I'd done it, but there was no taking it back.
I got out of there as fast as I could. There was no way I wanted to face my family. The more I thought about it, the worse I felt. I knew that I was flying home the next day, but Jackson would be left to deal with my brother and the only family he'd ever really cared about. Deep down I knew that he needed them, and there was a huge possibility that I'd taken them away from him.
I picked up my phone to see a ton of messages and calls. It was no surprise that they had all come from my brother. If I could get through a call with him and lunch the following day with my parents, I'd be able to run as fast as I could back to my life and leave it all behind me. I knew once I left, I wouldn't be back.
By the time I hung up with my brother, I was more hurt than I had been before.
It was one thing to think I wasn't memorable or good enough for HIM to keep me around. It was a totally different thing to be used just to prove a point.
I was on a mission, and I wasn't leaving without facing HIM and getting the answers I deserved.
That was the plan anyway.
Of course, nothing could ever be that easy when it came to Jackson.
