This short story is taken from a novel called THE HUNGRY, which also starred Sheriff Penny Miller. THE HUNGRY was released as an ebook October 1, 2011, with an introduction by best-selling zombie author Joe McKinney ("Dead City," "Flesh Eaters"). The paperback was released soon after. The sequels THE HUNGRY 2: THE WRATH OF GOD, THE HUNGRY 3: AT THE END OF THE WORLD and THE HUNGRY 4: RISE OF THE TRIAD are all out now.

This 5,000 word section has already appeared in "Best New Zombie Tales," the charity anthology "Dead Set," and is in co-author Harry Shannon's Stoker-nominated collection "A Host of Shadows."
