Invitaţia la vals by Mihail Drumeş
The Invitation to the Waltz is one of the most appreciated novels of Romanian interwar literature, and in the almost ninety years since its first appearance, in 1936, it has been published in dozens of editions. Drumeș tells the love story between Tudor and Micaela, an experience crushed by emotional excesses, jealousy and games of seduction.

Tudor, for whom women are no longer a mystery, is intrigued by Micaela's lack of interest and wants to seduce her at all costs. The young student, seemingly unmoved by his statements, is drawn into a game of voluptuousness with unknown rules. The love of the two protagonists, caught in the whirlwind of passion, is a continuous battle of devouring and self-destructive conquest.
