Nightfalcon: 1976-1984 by David Jones
In the middle of the Cold War, a U.S. intelligence agency develops a helicopter whose military computer is equipped with Artificial Intelligence. Also equipped with other things, such as numerous cameras and weapons, problems quickly arise because the aircraft can't generate enough power for all the systems. Besides, the computer is so complicated that only a crew of three can control it. The weight increases too much, which means fewer weapons can be carried. Because of the threatening world situation, the intelligence agency hires a scientist who can fix the problem, but the highly touted scientist is a psychopath. A dangerous tango with deadly danger - just to realize the project. Thanks to Artificial Intelligence and a novel energy system, which prevents the computer from being switched off, lets it learns with every use - even in standby mode. The test pilots notice little of the helicopter's life, which lines with the scientist's plans.
