Jace and Konnor Barton are identical twin demons enjoying a much-improved life after narrowly escaping a rough start. Given a second chance, they live in the protective care of their adoptive vampire parent, Gennady Zaitsev, and Fallon Demeter, Gennady's young werefox lover. Trouble starts when a local clergyman is brutally murdered. The Salem Special Council—of which Gennady is the president—bears the responsibility of reining in a potentially dangerous supernatural citizen.

Twenty years should have been enough to leave their difficult past behind, but a nightmare comes charging after the Barton twins with an unholy vengeance. When one brother falls under suspicion for the clergy murder, it shatters the heart of the other. Only an unlikely alliance of angels, demons, vampires, were-animals, witches, and humans can save Jace Barton and keep the secret of supernaturals living in Salem safe from the outside world.
