The Willow's Sigh by Jason Vanhee
The samurai Musashi Taketada falls in love with a song he hears in the night, and finds himself hopelessly intrigued by the young musician Yasusane who plays it. But the musician is proud and aloof, convinced he is the child of the Moon, and Taketada must prove himself in order to win the love of the musician. When tragedy befalls Taketada, though, the true depth of Yasusane's feelings are revealed, and the musician challenges the Goddess of Death to win back his beloved.

The Willow's Sigh is a loose retelling of the story of Orpheus set in a mythical Japan.
