Another Valentines? Hell No! Avoiding it? Definitely.
Only she still had to go out there. Still had to go to work, her clients needed her. Still had to eat. Still had to go see her family. And the stuff was everywhere you went. Heart balloons, heart decorations, red roses, flags, bunting, chocolates, cuddly toys! You name it, if it could have a damn heart on it it got it!
She was so sick of it. And every time she saw it, just another reminder she was alone. Again.
She didn’t need it. Had got off that train years ago. She was settled. Done. No more. And another introduction by her well-meaning sister and niece?
Damn it....... So not happening!

He didn’t get it. Why did they insist on celebrating Old Earth customs? This was not Old Earth, and those customs were bordering on ancient. His logic had no answers.
Their connection to it was generations ago. And yet, they continued to cling to it. Did they truly need something to remind them of the emotion of love? Of what it means?
His optic had no data to go on. Humans were all emotion. Mostly. Their behaviour intrigued him. Did it have a purpose he could not see? He’d come a long way at the insistence of his birth mate. A brother who was mated and for more than 25 years he’d been telling him his mate was likely on this world. The sister of his own.
The chances of that were unlikely. So he’d worked, held off, not sure why, given her a chance to find another mate and prove his brother wrong. It wasn’t logical but it was more than 25 years, and she hadn’t. And 8 years ago, had stopped anything to do with meeting a mate, concentrating on her job.
He’d been told she felt old and had had enough.
Age meant nothing to them. A female mate would regenerate with her male’s blood and seed. Would become young and fertile once more.
Maybe it was time he paid that visit….. Smiling. He needed more data and knew just where to find it.....
