While Russell and the other colonists of New California fight for the independence of their colony against General Morrow and his mercenaries, a new danger emerges. The transporters turn out to be horrendous weapons that pose a threat not only to the people of New California, but to the whole of the galaxy. A group of volunteers embarks on a series of dangerous missions with the transporter to try and face off the danger. But in the end, Russell wonders who the real enemy is: the secretive power behind the transporters or General Morrow himself?
