Denis Tompkins is stuck between a rock... and being put to death by the organization that he works for, thanks to a little spot or two of attempted murder. Who would have thought, right?

Now the only way out is with the help of the man he tried to kill, twice, and it requires him to become a brand new person. Someone better than he was. Like making changes like that is ever easy?

To top it off, the world has changed in the months he'd been out of touch and while familiar, everything has gotten just a bit darker, bleaker, than he's ever seen it before. The bigotry and hatred for the Infected has started to reach a fever pitch.

Now, as part of a special squad, he has to travel the country trying to stop a rogue senator from starting a war between Infected and the regular people that fear them. If he fails the best case scenario has him going back to lock-up. The worse case is so bad he can't even imagine it.
