Jet finds herself going from slave owned by the Royals to honorary member of the Royal family, pretty much overnight. It doesn't take her long to figure out this is hardly a prize, however, and that her new role as Laksri's official consort is likely to get her killed. Meanwhile, the Ringmaster Trazen, doesn't seem to have backed off at all, despite Jet's new-found status, and if anything, seems more determined than ever to put Jet in her place as a 'mammal' and a slave.
As the political intrigues in the Green Zone grow more elaborate and deadly, Jet has even less idea who to trust than before, and pretty soon, it becomes clear that the only way she'll survive the Rings, Richter and the Nirreth is if she carves out her own path apart from all of them.
